Polishing
Both traditional wax
and french polishing.. The surface patina
on any antique object is extremely valuable
and should be maintained at all costs.
We are very conscious of this and only
in the most extreme cases will this be
disturbed.. My polisher has many years
experience in the trade and as such is
expert at colour matching, bronzing,
ebonising and various other finishes.

Cabinet Repairs
We
pride ourselves on our cabinet making
skills which enable us to repair or conserve
any piece of damaged furniture. This
may involve replacing a simple joint
through to major surgery such as removing
a warp from a card table. Damage to chairs
is probably the most common task we perform,
but repairs to carcases, frames, patching,
matching and replacing veneers, turnings,
carvings, marquetry or boulle work are
all in a days work for us. We can also
arrange to make copies of chairs to complete
a set, or make bookcases or any piece
of furniture to your design.

Leather
Many
pieces of antique furniture have leather
incorporated. Desks, writing slopes etc
often have badly worn leather. Where
possible we will try to preserve the
original, but where a piece is so badly
worn, this can be replaced. We avoid
the "brand new" look and prefer to tone
the leather to give the impression of
age.

Glass
If
glass is cracked or missing we can replace
it. We have found that hand blown glass
can still be obtained, which provides
the wonderful wavy look we so admire
in antique glass. Mirror plates, bevelled
or plain can also be reproduced to simulate
the original if a genuine plate is not
available.

Maintenance
Annual
visits to your home or office to service
and maintain your antique furniture.
This involves thorough cleaning and waxing
of all your furniture to keep it in pristine
condition. Whilst there we will touch
in scuffs and marks and note and report
any other damage which you may wish to
have repaired. This has become a very
popular service with my private clients
and Embassies.

Security Cataloguing
It
may not be a well known fact, but the
police advise that a large proportion
of stolen property is eventually found.
Their problem is that because most is
not marked they are unable to trace the
owners. We will undertake to photograph
all your furniture and discreetly mark
it. Should the unthinkable happen, you
will have a complete folder to show the
police and help them to retrieve your
collection.

Transport
We will always collect
articles from clients and return them
when they are restored. A van is in the
London area most weeks.
